Local understanding

We appreciate the specialised industries that underpin the rural economies of the Crown Dependencies, their place in the islands’ histories and the special status of island produce; and we provide expert understanding of the opportunities which arise through the constitutional autonomy of the jurisdictions and their distinct trading relationships with the UK, the EU and the rest of the world.

Our consultants have examined the Brexit-impacts of tariff and non-tariff barriers to trade for Jersey’s agricultural and fisheries industries; reviewed the impact of the extension of the UK’s WTO membership; and analysed the negotiating positions for Jersey’s trade in goods and the potential impacts of a future UK-EU relationship on the jurisdiction’s sanitary and phytosantitary regulations and its support to agri-food businesses.

Fisheries

Our consultants developed the Marine Resources Strategy for the Government of Jersey; examined the Brexit-impacts of tariff and non-tariff barriers to trade on the island’s fisheries industry; analysed trade flows for the UK shellfish sector; assessed the impacts of rules of origin requirements on the UK fishing industry; and reviewed the options for greater sustainability in global fisheries.

Food security

Our consultants have reviewed Jersey's food security; analysed the island's supply chain risks arising through disruption to UK infrastructure; and advised on the roles of government and the private sector in ensuring food availability and affordability and in maintaining the island's productive capacity.

Agricultural economics

Our consultants have examined the options for Jersey’s abattoir and animal by-products; provided independent analysis of livestock pricing by Isle of Man Meats; advised on agricultural support structures for the Governments of Jersey and the Isle of Man; assessed the needs and potential of the Isle of Man pig industry; and reviewed State aid regulations and their implications for agricultural and fisheries support across jurisdictions.
