Tautenay was established in spring 2020 by Jenny Bevis and Steve Webster. We bring together local knowledge and experience with specialist understanding and expertise, and operate across the Crown Dependencies of Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man.

Steve Webster

Steve works in the agriculture, environment, fisheries and food sectors within the UK, the Crown Dependencies and Overseas Territories. He has undertaken research and analysis for Jersey since 2009 providing, for example, operational reviews of the State’s abattoir; the development of a marine resources strategy; advice on the Government’s role in supporting agriculture and rural businesses; reviews of the island’s food security; and an examination of the control of genetically modified organisms in Channel Islands’ agriculture.

On the Isle of Man, Steve has undertaken projects examining, among other things, livestock pricing by the island’s sole abattoir; the implementation of legislation on cattle identification; and the application of State aid regulations to agricultural businesses.

Prior to establishing his own consultancy, Steve had previously completed his PhD at the University of Reading and held roles as a post-doctoral researcher with the University of Oxford, a science consultant with ADAS and a project manager within a consortium of agricultural colleges. He has since taken interim roles as acting head of the Pasture Fed Livestock Association and as a specialist Brexit Advisor to the Government of Jersey.

Jenny Bevis

Jenny has worked extensively within the Government of Jersey, helping deliver its Rural Economy Strategy, monitoring invasive species, assisting with technical analysis and, more recently, working to ensure operational readiness for the agri-food and fisheries sectors during Brexit and the transition period. Jenny helped to develop Jersey’s agri-food and fisheries negotiating positions for the future relationship with Europe and the rest of the world, with specific expertise and understanding of sanitary and phytosanitary regulations, technical barriers to trade, rules of origin and tariffs.

Jenny holds a Bsc in Genetics & Biochemistry from the University of Aberystwyth and a MSc in Medical Entomology and Applied Parasitology from the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine.
